So my wedding planning had been delayed for a bit, but I'm back at it.  Haven't really decided on a place yet.  I do have a list of places to check out.  What I have been looking at recently was dress patterns for my bride's maids.  I want something different, not just your typical David's Bridal generic bride's maid's dresses.  I have actually found a really cute site with some great patterns.

She has a bunch of awesome patterns that I want to try out.  I think I might buy a few and just make some dresses for myself.  Here are the ones I was thinking could be potential bride's maids dresses

I want to have a summer wedding, so I don't want any big heavy dresses for my girls  I love #2.  It is cute, simplistic and classic.  I can definitely see my girls waking down the isle with me wearing that dress and little fasinators such as this.

Has anyone tried these patterns?  If you have let me know, I really would like some feedback before I buy the patterns to try.  Also If you have any other patterns along these lines you would like to suggest send them my way.

    I love Colette Patterns. They're nicely constructed and the pattern instructions are really good, too. I've tried the #2 dress, and blogged about it a few posts ago.

    These are so cute! I'm wondering if #1 is too much coverage for a summer wedding, though it is still totally adorable. I love them all <3

    Loads of sewing bloggers love the Colette patterns line, if you google them you will see what I mean. I personally love the Parfait (3)

Hello All, So I have started a small side project to keep my hands busy while watching the tube. I am making crocheted, poodle, toilet paper covers. Yes, the kind like granny used to have in her bathroom. What can I say, I have always like these kitschy little things. How can you not love them. Loving my Pattern Collection

If I had one piece of advice to aspiring costume makers, it would be BUY PATTERNS!!  Doesn't matter if you think you will use it anytime soon or not.  If you like it and can afford it buy it.  My compulsion to buy patterns is really working in my favor right now.  I am a self taught seamstress and have had no formal sewing, draping or pattern making lessons.  This being the case I depend on my patterns. This has allowed me to piece things together, alter existing patterns and just some just for their general shape. This is what I have been doing the last couple of days.  I found my perfect Dicken's fair inspiration dress. http://www.antique-frock.com/earlyvictorian/products/dress102.html I am in love this dress.  It is an acutal 1860 gown and being such, there is no specific pattern for this dress.  So, this is where my pattern collection comes in to play.  I am using 2 different patterns to piece together and create this dress. ...

Going... to the chapel...

Well perhaps not the chapel but the beautiful back yard.  Saturday was Kelly's wedding.  I have to say it was one of the top 2 weddings I have ever been to.  This was only second to a wedding that cost way to much and was held at the Sheraton. First off lets get it over with.  I know what you all have been checking back for... the DRESS!  Yes I finished it on time and it fit amazingly.  She was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen.  A lot of excitement, a little makeup and silk go along way.    My girly Kelly has always been a pretty girl, however I had never seen her look so lit up before. The day started off going to the salon and watching Kelly get her hair down.  Unlike most brides, Kelly went with flowing curls hanging down.  She had been growing out her hair for over a year just for this day (don't expect the long hair to last long!)  The curls just softened her so much.   From ...
