Fo- Wrap Dress

I dont know why but I seem to get the most sewing done between the hours of midnight and three am. Last night I stayed up and finished my wrap dress while my boy was drowning himself in video games. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. I didn't really make any alterations other than making it shorted. It is a pretty straight forward pattern. I will post more details later when i'm on my home computer.

Loving my Pattern Collection

If I had one piece of advice to aspiring costume makers, it would be BUY PATTERNS!!  Doesn't matter if you think you will use it anytime soon or not.  If you like it and can afford it buy it.  My compulsion to buy patterns is really working in my favor right now.  I am a self taught seamstress and have had no formal sewing, draping or pattern making lessons.  This being the case I depend on my patterns. This has allowed me to piece things together, alter existing patterns and just some just for their general shape. Knitting

I have come to the conclusion that I really need to learn how to knit.  I found these on mod cloth and really want a pair!  They are a throw back with a modern twist, which I LOVE! What do you think?  Any one have any tips on how to start learning?

Concept Sketch: Dickens Fair 2010

So I went shopping on Saturday for my Dickens Fair fabric! I am so excited about starting this project. I went a bit crazy with the fabric. I spent most the summer working on a project for my wonderful friend Kelly. But I am happy to be working on a project for myself. I decided to go for less of a traditional fabric for my 1850's dress this year, and go for on that was a bit more my own personal style.
