FYI- Fitting Shirts, Dress Forms and Custom Clothing

Hello All,

I was browsing youtube.com today looking for a tutorial on hidden zippers and I came across this video from Threadbangers. It starts off talking about fitting baggy shirts and moves on to custom dress forms. Take a look. I highly suggest watching the section about dress forms and then making one for yourself. It makes a world of difference in your garments if you have a clone to fit it on.

Loving my Pattern Collection

If I had one piece of advice to aspiring costume makers, it would be BUY PATTERNS!!  Doesn't matter if you think you will use it anytime soon or not.  If you like it and can afford it buy it.  My compulsion to buy patterns is really working in my favor right now.  I am a self taught seamstress and have had no formal sewing, draping or pattern making lessons.  This being the case I depend on my patterns. This has allowed me to piece things together, alter existing patterns and just some just for their general shape. I have come to the conclusion that I really need to learn how to knit.  I found these on mod cloth and really want a pair!  They are a throw back with a modern twist, which I LOVE! What do you think?  Any one have any tips on how to start learning?

1920's Look

So I have been looking in to how to do finger waves.  My hair is actually short enough that I could pull off the 1920's looks.  I just wanted to share a bit of my research with you all.  It is a quick tutorial in creating a 1920's Look. Makeup Hair And Makeup I love this tutorial because it is a really simple one that most anyone could do.  Also, it shows you how to make long hair into a flapper style. Here is another hair and makeup tutorial.  I like this hair because ti isn't as flattened down to the head like traditional fingerwaves are.  This is a more modern twist on fingerwaves.  This tutorial would be useful for those with long or short hair.  For short hair you just won't need to ponytail or pin it like you would for longer hair.
