Well perhaps not the chapel but the beautiful back yard. Saturday was Kelly's wedding. I have to say it was one of the top 2 weddings I have ever been to. This was only second to a wedding that cost way to much and was held at the Sheraton.
First off lets get it over with. I know what you all have been checking back for... the DRESS! Yes I finished it on time and it fit amazingly. She was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen. A lot of excitement, a little makeup and silk go along way. My girly Kelly has always been a pretty girl, however I had never seen her look so lit up before.
The day started off going to the salon and watching Kelly get her hair down. Unlike most brides, Kelly went with flowing curls hanging down. She had been growing out her hair for over a year just for this day (don't expect the long hair to last long!) The curls just softened her so much.
From there it was time to go back to the prep room and start getting ready. Our amazing friend Elissa did her makeup. As you can see below she looked flawless. Can you believe that we were thinking of going with a really subtle natural look? I love this dramatic creation they came up with. She was glowing! Afterwards we started dressing her. I have to say this dress was designed for her and only her. It fit like a glove. I loved seeing her families reaction when they saw her in it. Twas priceless.
Once she was all dressed we rushed off to take bride and groom photos. I will have some of those later on. But when we got back it was time for the big moment. We did last minute touch ups on her makeup and hair and got her ready to walk down the isle.
She was beautiful and the whole creation that was Kelly flowed so well in to all that she had worked hard to put together. Below are some better shots of the dress. I am still waiting on more full body ones from our friend the photographer. But here are some teasers.
The only issues we had with the dress were its length and the beads around the bodice. The thread I used to string on the beads wasn't strong enough. But the end of the night most of them were missing. Luckly they were a pretty common bead from Micheal's so I will be able to fix it.
The issue of the length was that she had a hard time dancing and the back tended to drag on the ground. The bottom hem was pretty mussed up and I am not sure if it is ok. But, we were thinking of shortening it so she could wear it again. So problem solved.
I am so happy with how it all came out. Having everyone see this dress was a major ego boost I have to say. I am proud of my work and love the way it turned out. I don't think I could have imagined a better outcome!

Very pretty! The dress and the bride look beautiful. That must feel like a wonderful accomplishment for you and a wonderful gift from you to your friend. I had my wedding dress made for me three years ago by an older man (85) who had been a dress designer in his younger years. It was gorgeous, and the pearl beads he sewed on my cummerbund fell off by the end of the night too! :) There is a lot of hugging going on at a wedding! No big deal! I'm sure no one even noticed. You did an excellent job.

ReplyDeleteNikki, I'd dare say you worked harder than anyone on this wedding. The dress turned out better than I ever could have imagined and made me feel like a princess. I feel so honored to have such talented friends, and so thankful that you went above and beyond to make something that was simply magical.
